Sam Benedict - Season 1

When her husband suddenly dies, Patricia Hannigan turns to the family's closest friend, Sam Benedict, for help in settling the estate. One of the survivors is the deceased's playboy brother James.

When Sarah Sykes murders her husband, Sam decides her only defense is to plead insanity.

A young, married, and pregnant Orthodox Jewish woman asks Sam's help to get an Orthodox wedding. She has already had a civil marriage, but because her husband is an agnostic she is unable to get married in a religious ceremony which would please her and her family more. Meanwhile, Hank gets into trouble in his effort to locate the one witness who can help his client, as a debt owed by his client to the witness is mistaken for a bribe.

Attractive Carrie Morton, claiming she has been swindled by the man she loves, hires Sam Benedict to sue him for 25,000 dollars.

Diana Hyland plays a rich girl who has been arrested for drunk driving. Turns out she is an ex-fiancee of Hank Tabor, Sam Benedict's assistant, played by Richard Rust. He takes her in hand, for old time's sake, and suffers the consequences, though he ends up figuring out what her problem is and it isn't really drinking, it's a chemical imbalance. Nice scenes with those two. Another story involves the guest star George Tobias as a Hungarian who owns an ethnic restaurant. He's 80, married to a 42 year old and they want to divorce, but of course, Sam saves their marriage!

Sam defends a man accused of swindling an insurance company out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, while the daughter of the man Sam's client accuses of being the real thief asks Hank to help her father.

Sam defends a man who is accused of arson and insurance fraud.
