Jamie, a psychiatric nurse from Pontypridd, is straining his ability to juggle home life, work life and past trauma. The arrival of the new boss may tip him over the edge.

Jamie is ordered to break contact with Paula just as Gwynn goes missing. A research offer comes up, with extra demands from the new boss.

Jamie packs his time with work, sports and supporting Melvyn as Mary's condition worsens, but his family slips further away, as does his state of mind.
