In the opening episode, divorced mother Margie Danielsen, feeling hopeless about finding love, meets charming chef Sean Paul Lanier. Their rapid romance culminates in marriage just two months later. However, Margie's world collapses when she discovers her husband is actually Paul Mack, a wanted criminal responsible for two California murders. As Margie turns to the police, she unwittingly becomes part of a perilous cat-and-mouse game.

In the heart of the New Orleans French Quarter, 29-year-old bartender Addie Hall falls for married Iraq veteran Zack Bowen. Surviving Hurricane Katrina strengthens their bond, but the post-disaster euphoria turns their passionate relationship violent. After Addie ends things due to Zack's affair, a violent rage ensues, leading to Zack strangling Addie. Overwhelmed by guilt, he faces the consequences of his actions.
