Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood

Today is Daniel Tiger’s birthday! Daniel is very excited to go to Baker Aker’s bakery to help his Mom pick out a cake for his party, and so proud that his mom lets him carry the cake himself. But when they arrive back home after a bumpy ride on Trolley, he discovers that his birthday cake is smooshed! What a disappointment. His father helps him see that there are good things even in a smooshed cake – it’s yummy.

Daniel Tiger and his friends Prince Wednesday and Miss Elaina are having a picnic at the park near the clock factory. When it starts to rain, their picnic is ruined, leaving them very disappointed. Dad Tiger helps them turn their disappointment around with an inside picnic instead – inside the clock factory where the friends find something else good when they get to hear “chime time” together.

Daniel is visiting school for the first time and is a little nervous because he doesn’t know what it will be like there. He packs his backpack with his favorite playthings from home – a lot of things! Teacher Harriet shows him around his classroom, and Daniel is surprised to find so many familiar things there. He learns that asking questions is one way to learn about something that’s new – and to feel more comfortable there.

Daniel goes to the doctor for his regular check up. Before his visit, he’s feeling a little uneasy – about one stripe scared, even if he knows he will not need to get a shot. Daniel and Mom Tiger talk, draw and play about some of the things that Dr. Anna will use – a stethoscope, an otoscope, a scale and more. With Tigey and his homemade doctor book in hand, Daniel learns that it also helps to talk with Dr. Anna about what will happen.

Mom and Dad Tiger are going out for the evening, and Prince Tuesday comes to be Daniel’s babysitter. As Daniel gets ready for bed, he misses his Mom and Dad. But Prince Tuesday reminds him that his parents will be back soon. When Tigey goes missing right before bedtime, Daniel learns what a grr-ific babysitter Prince Tuesday is. And his trust continues to build when he sees that his parents do come back, just as they promised.

Daniel joins his friends Prince Wednesday, Katerina Kittycat, O the Owl and Miss Elaina at school, but doesn’t want his Dad to leave, until Dad Tiger reminds him that ‘grownups come back.’ Miss Elaina is missing her mom and has lost her special locket with her mom’s picture in it. The children help Miss Elaina find her locket. Before long the school day is over and, just as promised, the grownups come back to take their children home.

Tiger Family is expanding and Daniel finds out that he is going to be a big brother! At first, he isn’t sure what to expect, but as his family prepares for the arrival of the new baby, Daniel learns about what it means to be a big brother…and a big helper, too.

The new baby is almost here and the Tiger Family is getting ready for the new arrival. Daniel is eager to pitch in as Mom and Dad prepare the baby’s room, but struggles with the idea of giving up his old baby things for his new sibling. He soon realizes that being a big brother means letting go of things you no longer need, and that’s a big help for the whole family.

The baby is about to arrive and everyone is so excited! Mom and Dad head to the hospital while Daniel and Grandpere spend time at home going through some of Daniel’s old things. In this half-hour musical episode everyone welcomes the new addition to the Neighborhood as Margaret comes home!

Daniel is playing “adventure tiger” at home with Dad, but things are not quite the same, now that Margaret is around. Daniel is upset that Dad keeps having to take care of his little sister, but Daniel learns that there’s time for the baby and time for Daniel, too.

Daniel is still getting used to having the new baby around. When Prince Wednesday comes over to play, Daniel gets frustrated because his friend wants to play with the baby instead of him, until he finds that there’s time for the baby and time for Daniel as well. And what’s even better is when they all play together!

Daniel is having fun playing “restaurant” with O and Katerina, but they keep getting interrupted by a very curious Margaret who wants to be part of the action. She also can’t seem to keep her hands off of Daniel’s beloved Tigey! Daniel eventually learns that although having a new baby sister around is very different…it can also be really fun.

Daniel worries about how he looks when he has to wear a different sweater because his red one is in the wash.

Daniel goes to school and finds that something is different: his teacher! But wait…it IS Teacher Harriet, only with a different hairstyle. Daniel is hesitant at first, but soon comes to understand that even though we can all change how we look on the outside, we’re still the same on the inside.

Daniel is at the library to check out a new book. Just as he spots the book he wants, O the Owl reaches for the same one! Who knew that sharing a book with a friend could be even more fun than reading it alone?

Daniel gets a special sticker book from Grandpere, but Margaret wants to play with the stickers, too. Daniel learns that while sharing can make things more fun, there are also some things you don’t have to share.

When Daniel tries a peach for the first time, he learns he is allergic to the fruit. Dad and Doctor Anna take care of him, and Doctor Anna tells Daniel how he can take care of himself, too.

Daniel is celebrating the 100th day at school. He tells Teacher Harriet and his friends that he is allergic to peaches. Teacher Harriet, Katerina, Miss Elaina, O the Owl and Prince Wednesday take care of Daniel by helping him avoid peaches. They all take care of each other in different ways throughout the school day.

Daniel learns he can have fun on his own, with creativity and imagination.

Daniel is excited for the Spring Sing, but is hesitant to find he has a substitute teacher.

Prince Wednesday spills paint all over his pants and the floor but feels better after telling Teacher Harriet what happened.

Daniel is playing at Miss Elaina's house when they accidentally break her dad's old kite. They feel bad, but when they tell Music Man Stan what happened, he explains that accidents happen to everyone, even adults.

It's Quiet Time at school, but Daniel and Miss Elaina don't want to stop playing with their trains. Teacher Harriet shows the kids the different ways they can settle down, like stretching, reading a book, or closing your eyes.

Daniel and Jodi make a pretend city out of all of the blankets in the Platypus house. When it's nap time for Teddy and Leo, Jodi finds Leo's missing blankie for him to snuggle-that's what he needs to help him rest.

At school, Teacher Harriet shows the class what to do to stay safe during a fire drill. While Daniel and his friends are playing, the fire alarm starts to ring, and the class practices their fire drill, following Teacher Harriet's instructions. The Neighborhood firefighters arrive to check on their classroom and teach the kids all about staying safe during an emergency.

Daniel is unsure about his new babysitter, but he gives it some time and has a tigertastic day.

Daniel and O the Owl sleep over at Katerina’s. O feels uncomfortable at first, but gives it some time and decides to stay.

Daniel feels worried when Mom Tiger hurts her arm, but talking about it helps him feel better.

Jodi loses her stuffie, Benji the Hedgehog, and is worried her mom won't find him. Talking about it with her friends helps her feel better.

Jodi gets frustrated when she can’t do a ballet dance, but she sticks with it even though it is hard.

Daniel struggles to make a snack all by himself, but he keeps trying and gets better at it!

There's something new about Trolley, and Daniel is so excited to find out what it is! As he waits, he learns new things about his friends. In the end, Daniel discovers that Trolley can turn into a boat. Daniel and his friends enjoy a ride!

Teacher Harriet helps Daniel make a chart to ask his friends how they like to say hello.

When Miss Elaina and Katerina play together, they ask each other how they like to play. Sometimes they like different things!

Daniel has to go potty, but is worried there won't be space for his sea turtle on the class mural when he's done in the bathroom.

Prince Wednesday needs to get dressed before he can go outside to see the butterflies and play with Chrissie.

When Daniel and O are playing post office, their wagon breaks. They look around and find something else to use.
