The New Adventures of Chor Lau-heung is a Hong Kong television series adapted from Chu Liuxiang Xinzhuan of Gu Long's Chu Liuxiang novel series. Michael Miu starred as the titular protagonist, Chor Lau-heung. The series was first broadcast on TVB from 12 November 1984 to 4 January 1985. It was rerun in Hong Kong on TVB Jade from February 1 to March 30 in 2006.

CHOR, after he has crushed many devilish organizations and eliminated a lot of baddies, keeps himself far away from the hustling and bustling mainland to lead a peaceful hiberated life with three beautiful ladies, YEE, HUNG and YING. Yet, the absence of challenge and stimulation make CHOR get tired of the prosaic quiet life. When it comes to GOI's birthday, CHOR most eagerly pays his good friend a visit. Accompanied by the three ladies, CHOR starts off to the mainland. On their way to GOI's, they meet a beautiful girl, CHING, who has great importance to the development of the plot later on. When they arrive at GOI's house, they find GOI is greatly depressed by his only daughter who is suffering from a strange illness, and also the days of his decisive engagement with SIT are numbered. To see whether the kidnapping is really done by SIT, CHOR sneaks into SIT's house where he finds HUNG is trying to cure SIT's daughter who is also suffering from a strange illness. When CHOR tries to convince SIT to stop his, challenge with GOI, he is on the contrary being advised to keep away from the case. Knowing that his lover, SIT's daughter, gets sick, LAN tries to visit her but gets refused by SIT. CHOR sympathizes with the pitiful couple, helps LAN sneaking into SIT's house, yet, they are discovered by SIT. LAN flees at once while CHOR is being caught and seriously scolded by SIT. On due day, GOI and SIT keep their words and have their fight in the FIVE MILE HILL. The fight is stopped by the news of their daughters' deaths.

At the funeral, GOI's daughter LAI comes to life again and claims herself SIT's daughter YAN. Everyone is shocked and thinks that YAN's spirit has clung to LAI but CHOR senses something fishy and decides to goes to GOI’s mansion to investigate. He is puzzled when he finds that YAN’s room is exactly as LAI described. SIT suspects CHOR of stealing his precious SNAKE SWORD and interrogates him. CHOR finds no way to prove his innocence and promises to look for the sword. CHOR takes SIT to LAI and SIT discovers that her way of thought and character are no different from his daughter YAN. SIT and GOI thus have a fight over who to claim the daughter. CHOR tries hard to mediate and promises to find out the truth of the matter.

A pupil of Hung Tung Clan is killed by the SNAKE SWORD and Leader MA decides to take revenge on SIT and his son BUN. CHOR comes in time to explain about the lost sword but MA is determined not to give up. YUNG lies to LAI that BUN is dying and YUNG becomes very worried. CHING takes the chance to test YUNG and discovers that LAI and BUN are in fact lovers. GOI learns about it and in a fit of rage, locks LAI up. CHING tries to help the lovers run away. After some investigation, CHOR finds out that because of the dispute between the two families, LAI and BUN cannot stay together and so they use tricks to help SIT and GOI reconcile and at the siaf1'1e time help LAN

Repenting, SIT agrees to the marriage between YAN and LAN and helps them to live on their own. Depressed, SIT and GOI postpone their duel. The restless CHING prefers to travel around with CHOR. Her strangeness displeases HUNG and the others. The well reputed inspector YING is ordered to search for CHING who, though a daughter of a rich official, always leaves home and roam about. Respecting each other, CHOR agrees to keep secret after discovering CHING's identity while she promises to assist him in finding the lost sword. To escape from YING, CHING leaves CHOR. Suspecting that people of the BAT PALACE have killed the disciples of the clans like Hung Tung, Dim Cheong and Mo Dong, CHOR pays attention to this secret gang. LO BO of the Kun Lun Clan charges CHOR before the leaders of the clans, for killing his brother. His claim is supported by Leader Ma.… ...

When people are blaming CHOR, WU appears and explains that it is all the treacherous plot of a secret gang. The clans swear to find out the truth. On the way to find CHING, CHOR's three girls, disliking WU's rudeness decide to take a difficult path and to meet CHOR later in the capital. In the Green Field Village, CHOR and WU come across their good friend HANG who, after marriage, abandons his identity as a merciless assassin and leads a peaceful life operating the Wan Loi Tavern. Not only does HANG tolerates the villain CHIN's insult to his wife, he resents WU's interference. WU is disappointed at HANG's cowardice. Cherishing resentment, Chin causes disturbance in the tavern and kidnaps HANG's wife. Being unable to stand his provocation, HANG strikes back.
