Few villagers backstabbed Tilka by informing his whereabouts to the Britishers. Britishers caught Tilka and dragged him from Sultanganj to Bhagalpur and hanged him to death.

Soon, the Britishers captured Awadh and burnt down her palace. She left for Nepal and later died.
