The pilot starts after the theme song when Jed struck oil in his Lake. A rural Ozark family relocates to Beverly Hills after oil is discovered on their property worth $25 million. After finding oil on the land, the family is surprised when Mr. Brewster of the OK Oil Company offers to buy it. After much coaxing by Cousin Pearl, Jed sells the swamp and moves the family to a mansion in Beverly Hills. Upon their arrival, they are arrested because of a case of mistaken identity but are later returned to the mansion safely.

When Jed walks up the Gangway in his admirals uniform the sailors think it's a surprise inspection. After a 'test drive' Jed decides to pass on buying the 'boat'. When Mr Drysdale arrives Herby (Mr Kelly) takes off the suit & leaves & Mr Drysdale puts it on & drives back to the bank. The Clampetts then go to the Zoo & bring back a real Gorilla.

Jed's cousin's old english sheep dog is on the bed with the curtains drawn. Granny thinks he's shy, She doctors him through the closed curtains thinking the dog is Jed's cousin. Later Granny sees the dog on the bed eating a bone & thinks the dog 'et' Jed's cousin.!! Jed & Granny bury the bones in the backyard.

Jed, Granny & Miss Jane go to Griffith Park to look for Jethro. The hippie wants to try some of Granny's smoked crawdads.

Two cops arrive while the 'Gang' are down at the lake, When the Police ask Granny what she's doing, she tells them ""I'm smoking crawdads,but first I need a little pot."" When Buddy finds a crawdad it nips him on the finger. He & the other 'Cats' split & the police go after them rather than the Clampetts.

Mr Drysdale isn't happy when Jed wants to withdraw $100,000 to buy Jethro a tank. He's even less happy when Jethro wants Mr Drysdale to be his tank crew dressed as a German Officer. Jethro drives the tank to Griffith Park for target practice, Mr Drysdale escapes in a rowboat & rows to the middle of the lake. Jethro is about to fire at him when two cops arrive & Mr Drysdale thinks he's saved. Until the older cop recognises him from his days in the quartermaster corp & arrests him as payback. Jed has to bail out Mr Drysdale.

Mr Drysdale congratulates the Clampetts for reaching the sum of $80,000,000 in his bank. Jethro tells Jed he heard on the radio that the Queen Elizabeth was sold to Philadelphia. Jed rings Faversham in London & he confirms this. Says they sold both Queens to the U.S. (However he meant the Ocean Liners,Queen Mary & Queen Elizabeth.Not the people.) Jed thinks that the Queen must be having money trouble & wants to help. He wants to withdraw his money & give it to the Queen. He's sure Mr Drysdale won't mind,it must be a worry for him looking after all that money. When Mr Drysdale hears about this he hires an actor to play the Queen's Minister of Finance to accept the money & give it back to Mr Drysdale. But things don't go the way Mr Drysdale planned, When the actor found out Jed was rich,he sold him Canada & gave him the deed to take to the Queen herself.

Granny sees this and thinks He has Goose Fever. When the Clampetts are driving through town,people are pointing at them. Granny says news has spread how they chickened out of the war of the roses last time they were in England. When they arrive at the castle Colonel Dumbarton next door fires off his sunset canon & lowers the Union Jack flag. Granny thinks he's startin'the war of the roses all over again.!
