A quarter-life crisis causes a young Chinese American woman, Nicky Shen, to drop out of college and go on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China. But when she returns to San Francisco, she finds her hometown is overrun with crime and corruption. Nicky will rely on her friends and family as well as her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice…all while searching for the ruthless assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor Pei-Ling and is now targeting her.

When adjusting to life back at home doesn’t go as planned, Nicky turns to Henry for help in her hunt for Zhilan. Meanwhile, as Jin looks forward to life getting back to normal, Mei-Li isn’t as optimistic. Finally, after lending a hand to a young woman in need, Nicky finds the mental clarity she desperately needs.

Nicky and Henry follow a lead involving a professor who may be able to help in their search for Zhilan. Meanwhile, as Althea's past comes back to haunt her, a squabble between Jin and Mei-Li points to bigger issues in their marriage. Elsewhere, Nicky steps in to help a young worker after learning of some suspicious activity happening at King Kwong's garment factory.

As Nicky and Henry follow a new lead that brings them to a private collector in Napa, a tension-filled dinner with the Soong's leaves Althea to question her worth. Elsewhere, Evan's suspicions about Henry continue to grow.

An officer-involved shooting in Chinatown sends shockwaves through the community. Mei-Li and Jin are forced to revisit a traumatic experience from their past. Nicky and Henry make a startling discovery about the weapons.

When the retrieval of a weapon doesn't go as planned, Nicky takes matters into her own hands; Jin takes Mei-Li on a surprise date; Althea finds herself faced with an ultimatum.

With the Lunar New Year around the corner, a more confident and grounded Nicky finds herself in a great place in her relationship with Henry and with her family. However, when a break-in at the Shen residence leaves her shaken, Nicky, with the help of Evan, begins to suspect that Russell Tan may be involved. Elsewhere, as Mei-Liand Jin prepare for the New Year at Harmony Dumplings, Althea begins to question whether she made the right decision re-entering the workforce.

In the midst of Lunar New Year festivities in Chinatown, Nicky tries to help her newly-discovered cousin Mia understand her new reality. Meanwhile, as Nicky and Evan follow a lead involving one of Russell Tan's mercenaries, Henry keeps an eye on Mia at the community center. Elsewhere, Ryan meets Sebastian, Harmony Dumpling's newest line cook and Kerwin is paid a surprise visit by his sister Juliet. Finally, Zhilan is forced to confront her past.

After a mishap forces her to re-evaluate her plan against Russell Tan, Nicky turns her attention to finding out what Kerwin is up to after learning he's back in the fold. Jin offers help to an old friend at the Chinatown Arts Collective, and the team makes a big move against Russell Tan.

After finding himself in a bind, Dennis turns to Nicky for help, leading them to uncover an auto theft ring in Chinatown. Elsewhere, when an argument about family causes Henry and Nicky to have their first real fight, Henry reluctantly reconnects with his estranged father. Finally, Evan is forced to make a difficult decision that could cost him his job.

After receiving a new clue that could lead to Mia's whereabouts, Nicky and Henry race to find her before Russell Tan's forces do. Meanwhile, Mei-Li is tested when a new restaurant opens nearby, and Althea continues to struggle with the challenges of work.

After a tip from Evan leads Nicky and Mia to a secret meeting between Juliette and a mysterious scientist, Nicky begins to question whether she should approach her relationship with Mia as a friend or a shifu. As the Shens prepare for Harmony Dumplings’ grand reopening, they learn that they have become the latest victims of a crime wave that has hit their Chinatown community. Nicky and the team prepare to take matters into their own hands.

When someone from Nicky's past shows up unexpectedly, she reaches out to Ryan for help uncovering why. Jin takes on the Chinatown Council, while Evan and Althea investigate what may be behind the city's recent rise in crime. Finally, Mei-Li meets with Carrie, the representative of a restaurant investment group, and Henry's globetrotting search brings him to one of his father's former allies.

After learning that Henry is a person of interest in a heist gone wrong, Nicky travels to Thailand to help him - a move that forces them to confront their unresolved issues. When Mei-Li needs help reorganizing at Harmony Dumplings, Jin and Althea team up to help. Elsewhere, Ryan gets some relationship advice from an unlikely source.

With the grand reopening of Harmony Dumplings just around the corner, it's all hands on deck to make sure it goes off without a hitch. However, things take an unexpected turn when the Shen's receive a mysterious threat on the eve of the restaurant's reopening. Elsewhere, Jin faces a new challenge and Ryan scrambles to find Sebastian the perfect gift.

Nicky is forced to put things with Bo on the back burner while she figures out how to help Pei-Ling. Sebastian voices his concern to Mei-Li about corporate's growing oversight on the restaurant. Althea and Evan help Jin after a local politician is robbed of some valuable research. Finally, Zhilan makes her move.

Nicky, Henry, Ryan and Pei-Ling try to make sense of some disturbing information they’ve learned about Xiao. Althea and Dennis help his sister after she learns that money has gone missing from their family’s charitable trust. Elsewhere, Mei-Li is forced to make an impossible decision.
